Lets all eat cake!

How quickly does your baby’s first year go?! Super fast, that’s how! The precious newborn days will only feel like yesterday, yet here you are, planning their first birthday, and wondering where the last 12 months went. I LOVE cake smash sessions. They are hilariously fun, and you never quite know how it’s going to go. Some eat as much cake as their parents will let them, others aren’t as keen to touch it!

My Cake Smash Sessions are very much child led, and the aim is for your baby to have as much fun as possible. Whatever happens, you can be sure I will catch it all on camera, so you have their first birthday celebration to remember.

All my Cake Smash Sessions include a mini portrait session at the start, family photos, and a bubble bath at the end – which often makes more mess than the cake part – but don’t worry, you can leave the cleaning up to me!

I’ve been a Cake Smash Photographer in Brighton for many years, and my sessions all take place in my cosy little studio in East Hoathly, which is just outside Lewes, Brighton.

Lots of fun and mess! The session starts off with a mini portrait session, which is a chance to get some beautiful photos in a favourite outfit before they dive into the cake, and also get your family photos. Then we have a quick change of clothing ready for the cake smash itself. You never can tell just how this bit will go, but most have fun! We end the session with a quick splash in the bubble bath, so you can take your little one home all clean and dry.

recommend booking up as far in advance as possible if you want to get your preferred date. I tend to suggest picking a date 1-2 weeks before your little one’s first birthday if you want your photos back in time for their big day. I only book out 1 weekend each month so if you need a Saturday or Sunday please book up early.

Nope! The cake is supplied, and you might even be able to take some home afterwards!

Cake Smash sessions will last typically last around 60-90 minutes.

Trust me, this does happen! Every child is different in how they will react to being given a giant cake. Some will sit there and try and devour it, others will just pick off tiny bits of icing or give it a prod…. and yes, some don’t want to touch it at all! There are a few little tricks I have to encourage messy play, but you will be surprised at just how many images we get. This is one of the great things about having a mini portrait shoot, and bubble bath included, you get a good variety of images in your gallery.

You will find my cosy little studio in a small village called East Hoathly. Being a Cake Smash Photographer in Brighton and Lewes, I have clients come from all over Sussex.
